I decided to rework my illustration of Pen y Fan as I wasn’t a fan of the sky I had created previously. I think having a simple sky like this puts the focus on the sketchy lines and their texture rather than a painterly sky competing for that.
It’s been a few months since my last landscape illustration but after reflecting on this piece I feel like I want to draw another soon!
You may have seen this primrose illustration in my post from yesterday. Well, I liked it so much that I decided to take it and further develop it into its own illustration. By adding a few moths, a black arch frame, and a crescent moon its become one of my favourite pieces that I’ve made!

At the time of sketching up this spread there were dozens of wild primroses peeking their heads out of the grass in our garden. They’re one of my favourite flowers, not just because they are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, but mainly because it reminds me of walking around my grandparent’s farm in Cornwall, where these flowers thrive! They feel very nostalgic!
I paired the primrose sketch with an illustration of some roses and a reminder for when I’m being too hard on myself for not getting through my overly ambitious to-do list. I don’t use text in my work often but it is interesting to work with and I may incorporate more in future work too!
